The Piece of Glass That Already Had an Owner
Yesterday, two little girls knocked on my door.
They were so excited because they had spent the previous day searching for pieces of glass on a beach on the Costa Brava, and they wanted to give them to me.
As soon as I opened the bag, something happened that made me smile.
One of them quickly picked out one of the pieces of glass and said:
— I'm not giving you this one. It reminds me of a shark's tooth, and I want you to make me a pendant.
Her sister did exactly the same.
— And not this one either. I'd like to wear it as a bracelet.
There wasn't a piece of jewellery yet.
We hadn't even talked about designs.
But they had already chosen their glass.
That moment made me realise that sometimes, we aren't the ones who choose a piece of glass.
Sometimes, it finds the person it wants to continue its story with.
Since that day, I've been even more convinced that sometimes, we don't choose the glass.
The glass chooses the person with whom it wants to continue its story.
